Enock Benavides
Principal
Hello Vista Horizon Family!
My name is Enock Benavides and I am thrilled for the chance to be the principal this school year—and beyond. Some of you already know me, because we’ve been lucky enough to be partners and colleagues for our Vista Charter Public Schools for several years. Others probably know very little about me.
Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I was a teacher at the middle school level for 10 years. Next, I was given the chance to move out of the classroom to be the Educational Interventionist and Assistant Principal for Vista Charter Middle School. When I started my career, I didn’t think I would ever be a principal; however, when I started working as an Interventionist, I learned how much I loved working with teachers and students in a leadership role. I loved collaborating with teachers, interacting with students, and working with families. I also enjoyed working with principals and learned a great deal about leading a school. I am looking forward to collaborating, working as a team, and supporting our school community. We are a Team and partner in the educational success of our students in our community.
On a personal level, I am married, I have 3 children, and a dog. I spend a lot of my free time playing music, hiking, playing soccer, and going out with my family. I also love to read books about instruction and leadership and to serve my home base community of faith.
I am blessed to be an addition to the Vista Horizon Global Academy this year. I am here to serve, collaborate, and work with all of you to help our students in our community.
With Love and Respect,
Enock Benavides was born in El Salvador and finished his early education and middle school in San Miguel, El Salvador. Mr. Benavides then moved to Los Angeles where he continued his high school education at Belmont High School. Not knowing what to study, he enrolled at LACC where he got his Associate Degree in Liberal Arts to later transfer to CalStateLA where he got his teaching credential and BA in Spanish.
His teaching career began at University High School for LAUSD in 2008. Mr Benavides joined Vista Charter Middle School in 2012 teaching Spanish for 6-8 graders. At Vista is where his leadership career started by being part of the Instructional Leadership Team, Instructional Interventionist, and Assistant Principal. Mr. Benavides earned his Master Degree in Educational Leadership from CalState Dominguez Hills.
This year 2023, Mr. Benavides moved to Vista Horizon Global Academy to be the proud principal of our school. Mr. Benavides believes in Transforming the School Experience by working with all stakeholders as a team. He believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to support the education of our students.
During his free time, Mr. Benavides enjoys spending time with family, walking his dog, reading, and serving his faith community.
