Press Release - Court's Decision in the Tragic Death of George Floyd
VISTA CHARTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS PRESS RELEASE
With the guilty verdict for the murder of George Floyd it is easy to believe that justice has finally been served for the African American community. However, justice will not be served for the African American community or any community of color, race, or perceived difference until every American family can send their children to school without fear they will be beaten, bullied, or buried. Justice will not be served until equality in employment and opportunities for a world class education has been achieved. Justice does not mean your perpetrators receive their due punishment, but that there are no perpetrators left because we have finally and truly accepted the creed that every man, woman, and child is created equal and deserves equality.
The day of true justice may still be a far-off dream, but at Vista Charter Public Schools we are fully committed to making that dream a reality within our schools and for our students. We are also committed through our Global Educational approach to instill these ideals within our students so that justice and equality will continue to grow and spread until, as Dr. Martin Luther King said, “our children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”.
