We invite you to submit a Student Lottery Application Form to enroll your child in the 2024-2025 School Year. All forms must be received from November 1st, 2023 - January 12th, 2024, by 4:00 PM, in order for your child to be entered into the lottery. The form may be submitted in person, or via the US Postal Service with the above-mentioned stamped date. For all of the above options, parents/guardians should keep the receipt or a copy of the confirmation email until the lottery day.

LOTTERY PROCEDURES

All 6th, 7th and 8th grades’ new students:

Parents/guardians may complete a Numbered Lottery Application during the above-mentioned enrollment window


Incoming 6th-grade students:

If on January 12, 2024, less than 140 letters of intent are received, parents/guardians will be notified of their child’s acceptance and invited to fill out an enrollment packet.

If on January 12, 2024, more than 140 letters of Intent are received, an enrollment lottery will be held on January 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the Commons of the school. This process will randomly select 140 students to be enrolled. Students not selected for the first 140 seats will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted for enrollment if and when any seats become available.


Incoming K-6th Grade Students:

If on January 12, 2024, the combined number of previously enrolled students and new lottery forms are less than 66, parents/guardians of new students will be notified of their child’s acceptance and invited to fill out an enrollment packet.

If on January 12, 2024, the combined number of previously enrolled students and letters of intent are more than 66 at each grade level, an enrollment lottery for incoming students will be held on January 16, 2024, at the Main Office Lobby of the school. This process will randomly select students to be enrolled to fill the remaining open seats after previously enrolled students are confirmed. Students not selected for the remaining seats will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted for enrollment if and when any seats become available.


 

Incoming 7th and 8th-grade students:

If on January 12, 2024, the combined number of previously enrolled students and new lottery forms is less than 140, parents/guardians of new students will be notified of their child’s acceptance and invited to fill out an enrollment packet.

If on January 12, 2024, the combined number of previously enrolled students and letters of intent are more than 140 at each grade level, an enrollment lottery for incoming students will be held on January 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the Commons of the school. This process will randomly select students to be enrolled to fill the remaining open seats after previously enrolled students are confirmed.

LOTTERY PROVISIONS

Students who are currently enrolled are exempted from the lottery. Charter School offers the following enrollment priority in the lottery:

  1. Residents of LAUSD
  2. Siblings of admitted students, to help families and build community at the site
  3. Children of teachers and staff (up to a cap of 10% of enrollment) to benefit our hard-working teachers and staff.
  4. Students who reside in the elementary school attendance area where Vista MS is located, for purposes of SB 740 funding.

 

Students not selected for the remaining seats will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted for enrollment if and when any seats become available.
